Dance of Fire

[Intro | upbeat instrumental | nyckelharpa and fiddle | no vocals] [Verse 1] I saw God — He was walking along the road, And the wind was caressing and tossing His hair, And a choir of bells over the threshold flowed, And His free laughter flew through the world everywhere. And light little pathways were laid neath His feet, And the sky was ringing beneath the birds' wings, And sunlight — those golden and dancing streams — Was shining and playing, not knowing bounds of things. [Instrumental break | repeat the intro motif with percussion] [Verse 2] I saw God — He was dancing beside the fire, Forgetting all bans, with a smile in His eyes. And there was no falseness, no rule to aspire, Just childhood and daring and boundless surprise. He leaped very lightly through flames and through coal, And sparks were arising like dragonflies' flight. And shadows were cast upon moss-covered walls, And echo repeated His song through the night. [Instrumental break | repeat the intro motif with percussion] [Verse 3] I saw God — He was playing and romping with kids, He laughed like a boy and was tossing the stars. He soared to the sky and he sparkled like fireworks, And left to all people both warmth and delight. He asked: "What is there, just around the bend? How will the world still surprise us? What's next? What good will I meet with the sunrise, my friend?" And waited for the world to sing along in duet. [Instrumental break | repeat the intro motif with percussion] [One bar of silence] [Final verse | vocals in full voice, no whispering, no soft delivery | nyckelharpa only] And no matter how much they would tell me of this, That gods are afar, in the heights, in the still, I don't believe. Gods don't in testaments live. They are — the flame of joy in me, and they will. [Outro| Instrumental at full force| repeat the intro motif with percussion]
